Anyela Leandra Castillo: MuJeR from Acevedo, Colombia

Anyela Leandra Castillo is a participant of the MuJeR project, an initiative that aims to empower young rural women through financial inclusion. She is from the municipality of Acevedo, in rural Colombia. In MuJeR not only did she find the opportunity to improve her and her family's quality of life, but also helped other women in her communities do the same. With a lot of commitment and dedication she spread her knowledge on financial education and shower them how to make better decisions and manage their money so they could reach their goals and dreams.
Participanting in MuJeR and accessing the financial system through her electronic wallet, she began saving with the purpose of improving her small barber shop, which she had established with a lot of effort. Putting in practice the knowledge aquired in the workshops of the project, she aimed to expand the business's offering through a beauty products distributor, which did not exist in her township.
Through face-to-face trainings and with support of digital solutions, she became more empowered and strengthened her ability to make better decisions about savings, investment and borrowing. When she had savings in her account, the bank offered her credit. Combining this sum, with the savings she already had, she reached her goal. Anyela tellers her story:

Anyela Leandra Castillo: MuJeR de Acevedo, Colombia
Anyela Leandra Castillo es una participante del proyecto MuJeR, una iniciativa que busca empoderar a las mujeres jóvenes rurales a través de la inclusión financiera. Ella es del municipio de Acevedo, una zona rural de Colombia. En el programa MuJeR no solo encontró la oportunidad de mejorar su calidad de vida y la de su familia, sino que también la de otras mujeres jóvenes de su comunidad, en donde con mucha entrega y dedicación replicó los conocimientos de educación financiera y les enseñó a tomar mejores decisiones y a manejar su dinero para que puedan cumplir sus metas y sueños.
Al participar en el programa MuJeR y acceder al sistema financiero a través de un monedero electrónico, comenzó a ahorrar con el propósito de mejorar su pequeña barbería que con mucho esfuerzo había logrado materializar. Poniendo en práctica los conocimientos brindados en los talleres del proyecto, se propuso ampliar los servicios del emprendimiento, por medio de una distribuidora de productos de belleza, que no existía en su corregimiento.
Por medio de capacitaciones presenciales y con apoyo de soluciones digitales fortaleció su empoderamiento y la toma de mejores decisiones de ahorro, inversión y endeudamiento. Al tener un ahorro en su cuenta, recibió la propuesta del banco ofreciéndole un crédito, juntando ese dinero y los ahorros que tenía, y alcanzó su meta. Anyela cuenta su historia en este video:
